On January 20, 2009, to commemorate Barack Obama's first term inauguration, I drove through SC Congressional District 5 to make pictures that were intended as the everyday counterpoint to the momentous events of the nation's capital. Each year since, on January 20, I continue the project by making another journey through District 5. The subject matter of my pictures is, like the route I take, completely random.
